Easters in South Carolina

For some reason, Matt and I have started a tradition of going to South Carolina for Easter.  Well, the actual reason being that my sister and her family live there and ULM's Spring Break has always tied into the Good Friday then the week afterwards.  So, for our 10 hour drive, we've got to have time for at least 2 days of driving and we'd like to spend 3 or so days there, which means we need at least 5 days for this trip.  And at $450 a pop for a plane ticket, a flight is out of the question.

I'm not sure the requirements of what makes traditions become traditions, but to me if you've done it more than twice, that should constitute "tradition."  So, this being our third trip to Spartanburg, SC, for Easter, the Miller's and the Street's have decided it's now a tradition.  The other tradition is that we have Easter supper without any parents or kids.  (I think Chuck likes to go out with me and Matt sometimes because it's one of the few times he can get something spicy or different from Jill's normal not-so-spicy taste buds.)

It's been so much fun to get to see my sister and her family when we get a chance!  We try for at least 3 times a year, 4 or 5 times is wonderful, but depends on our schedules coinciding.  I know it's been a while since my first blog, but I've got lots of news and I'm trying to figure out how to share it all a little at a time.  Soon to come-- where will our next house/apt be?  Tennessee, Mississippi or South Carolina??  Stay tuned to find out more!

Feathers? In your hair? And they're BLUE??

Yep!  For my first post, I'd like to share with you that I have given in to the new trend and got some feathers in my hair!   I'm not much of following the trend of anything pretty much, but for some reason, I just thought they were fun!  So, instead of getting something pierced or tattooed, I decided to get some simple feathers.
The original feather bundles of choice.

So, I went with my sweet little friend, Kelli, and we thought we were going to get one of these bundles for like $5.  Well, she did.  I had no idea how much they were going to cost.  After we had deliberated for a long time, we then found out that they were $25 for ONE bundle.  The salon lady said we could split a bundle and we then had to decide which bundle we wanted to split b/c we'd already picked out totally different bundles for each of us.  I was thinking like a natural set, a pink set and maybe yellow.  Well, then I looked at the blue set and Kelli's like "I really like that!"  So, even though I hardly ever where blue (and today just happened to be the day that I wear the one blue shirt I have), that's the color I go with.  So, here's a look at what I ended up getting:

The feathers! 2 blue, a yellow and tanish/gray
I can definitely hide if if I need too.  But it looks pretty good.  You can wash it, straighten it, pull it back and they'll last for like 6 months.  So, all in all, it'll be a fun little addition for a little while!
